Virginia Beach is best known as a resort city, and for its beach "strip" which is listed in Guinness Book of Records as the world's longest pleasure beach.
As you might imagine, the climate in Virginia beach is "subtropical", and the weather is affected by close proximity to the ocean.

When you're finished enjoying the ocean view, there are many other things to do. You'll find opportunities to play

Beyond outdoor activities, there are exciting attractions to enjoy mixed in with
historic sites and museums
that will give you a look into the Old South. If you're planning a family vacation,
there are lots of places kids love
Ocean Breeze Water Park
, for example, is 1.5 miles from the beach and lets you enjoy the water in quite a different way. The Park includes 16 waterslides, and a children's area where they can turn into pirates at Buccaneer Bay. Other things to check out include
pirate cruises, gocart parks, and free sidewalk entertainment each night in season.
Dining out can be simple or an adventure. You can find anything from a hot dog at the beach to any one of the following cuisines: Asian, Caribbean, Greek, Hispanic, Italian, Spanish, and of course seafood and steak restaurants.

The Shops at Hilltop is only two miles from the ocean and offers over 120 stores, services and dining opportunities. Located just minutes from the oceanfront,
Lynnhaven Mall is the home of over 180 stores and 17 restaurants. For your further enjoyment, stop by the
